Two reasons why every professional landscaper should have a ride on mower

Posted on

If you run a landscaping business, it's worth purchasing a ride on mower. Read on to find out why.

It could increase your enterprise's profitability

Performing your work at a slow pace will have a negative impact on your business' profitability. As such, it is important to invest in equipment that will enable you to carry out your landscaping work quickly and efficiently, so that you can complete a greater number of landscaping projects in a shorter amount of time (and thus earn more money).

If you're keen to increase your enterprise's long-term profitability, it might be a good idea to replace your existing push-mower with a ride on mower, as this should significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to trim your clients' lawns.

For example, if you use a push mower to mow a very large lawn, it could take you at least a couple of hours to complete this task (or even longer, if you need to take rest breaks due to the strenuous nature of this work).

Conversely, if you used a ride on mower, you could finish off this job in half the time, as this equipment can move far more quickly than a push mower.

Furthermore, because this piece of equipment eliminates the need for you to physically push any component, using it means that you won't have to spend quite as much time resting in between tasks, as you won't be anywhere near as exhausted by the mowing process.

This, in turn, that you would be left with extra energy that you could use to complete additional landscaping work.

It will minimise the risk of injury

As mentioned above, using a push mower to mow a lawn is a very physically strenuous process, which places a great deal of strain on the muscles in your arms, upper back, neck, legs and even your abdomen (as your core muscles need to be engaged in order to push a heavy object).

Constantly straining and overusing these muscles can put you at risk of injury. You may, for example, pull a muscle in your back, slip a disc in your spine, or experience inflammation in one of your tendons.

Injuries of this kind aren't just uncomfortable; they could also impede your ability to do your job. If your experience a slipped disc as a result of using a push mower, for example, you could end up having to take weeks off work in order to recover. This, in turn, could affect your enterprise's profitability.

Purchasing a ride on mower could drastically reduce the likelihood of you sustaining a serious injury when mowing your clients' lawns.

The reason for this is that, due to the design of ride on mowers, you barely need to move your body in order to operate one. All you have to do is retain a light grip on the steering wheel and lean your feet against the pedals.
